Agonda Beach

Village of Agonda lies between Panaji and Palolem in Goa. The beach is surrounded by a large hill towards the south and fringed by the palms and casuarinas. The three-kilometer long solitary beach is a perfect option for those who have come to Goa in search of solitude and tranquility. You will find no restaurant owners inviting you to try out their preparations, no souvenir shopkeepers to haunt you throughout the beach to buy trinkets and curios from their shop and no swarm of people causing loud noises to disturb you. The only partners of your peace and loneliness are the turquoise blue sea, silver sands and the lush green vegetation. You may want to swim, a the water looks inviting but do not venture too far into the sea. It could be really dangerous even if you are a good swimmer, as very limited facilities are available over here.

Aguada Beach

Aguada lies in the north of Goa and is one of the favorite beaches o the tourists in Goa. People travel to Aguada Beach to enjoy the view of the sea from the Fort Aguada. The fort is the remnant of the Portuguese defense, as it was constructed to check the entry of the enemy into River Mandovi and to protect old Goa from intrusions.

Anjuna Beach

Also known as the "Freak Capital of the World", Anjuna Beach is a rage among tourists for its Trance Parties and the Hippies. It was discovered between the late 1950s to mid-1960s by a group of travelers, including the "Eight Finger Eddie". The major attractions of this beach are the Full-Moon Parties and Wednesday Flea Market. You would also love to visit the Albuquerque Mansion, Mascarenhas Mansion and Chapora Fort.

Arambol Beach

Village of Arambol, also known as Harmal, is at a distance of 50 km from Panaji. It is a rather lonely stretch of beach lined with rocks, red laterite slopes and sand. There is a fresh water lake very close to the shoreline. The beach is drained by Tiracol River on one end on the other side of which is the Tiracol Fort. It has now been converted into a hotel.

Baga Beach

Baga is the part of a 30 km long stretch of beach that runs all along the west coast of Goa. Baga lies 10 km towards the west of Mapusa and is considered as an extension of Calangute beach. The beach is full of picture perfect scenery of the creek and hills with the Retreat House in the background. The beach is popular for water sports and angling.

Benaulim Beach

Benaulim lies at the southernmost tip of Goa. It is 37 km from Margao and 2 km to west of Chaudi. Although an isolated beach, it is one of the most beautiful beaches of Goa. The Western Ghats forms the backdrop of this fishing beach.

Bogmolo Beach

Bogmolo is a small beach at a distance of about 4 km from Dabolim airport and 8 km from the city of Vasco da Gama. Although small in size yet it is broad in width and is adorned by swinging palms. Bogmolo Beach is absolutely safe for swimming and if water scares you, just relax on the sun beds shaded by bright beach umbrellas.

Calangute Beach

Calangute is about 16 km from Panaji and is situated in Bardez taluka. celebrated as the "Queen of Beaches", it is one of the most famous and commercialized beaches in Goa. It is also among the top ten bathing beaches in the world. Not just the tourists, but also the locals love to stroll on the beach from the day till late in the evening. On this beach, you will be entertained by rock shows, pop beat shows, open-air dances and fetes.

Candolim Beach

Candolim is a part of a 30 km long stretch of beach coastline all along the Arabian Sea along with Baga Beach. Its boundary begins from the Fort Aguada and continues till the Chapora Beach. In comparison other beaches in Goa, it is more peaceful of them all. The dunes on the is covered by vegetation.

Cavelossim Beach

Cavelossim lies to the south of Benaulim. Cleaner and quieter than most of the beaches in Goa, this fishing beach is famous for angling. You may try out the authentic and fresh Goan seafood at the beach side joints. They are very tempting, safe and reasonably priced. If angling and fishing are not enough attractions for you, then watch the friendly Dolphins at Betty's Place or go on boat cruise to look for more Dolphins in the River Sal.

Colva Beach

The oldest and the largest beach of Goa, Colva is at a distance of 6 km from Margao. The beach extends from Bogmolo in the north to Cabo de Rama in the south. Enjoy a leisurely stroll on the clear white sand of the 25 km stretch of the beach. Coconut palms lined all along the shore ad to the beauty of the beach. It was a holiday retreat for the upper class people of Margao, who often frequented Colva for the "Mundanca" or change of air. The beautiful houses or villas scattered all along the village are the witness of its past glory and catch your attention.

Dona Paula Beach

Small yet most popular beach for water sports, Dona Paula Beach has a folklore associated with it. It is believe by the locals the beach is named after a girl, Dona Paula de Menzes. Although the daughter of a Viceroy in colonial India, she fell in love with a local fisherman, Gasper Dias. She was denied the permission to marry him by her father. Therefore, she killed herself by throwing herself off the cliff and was buried in the Cabo Chapel of the Raj Bhawan. Locals also believe that she emerges out from the sea waves on a moonlit night wearing only a pearl necklace.

Mobor Beach

Mobor lies on a narrow cape of ridge of sand between the Arabian Sea and Assolna River Estuary. Mobor Beach is an attractive and most happening beach at the end of the 10 km long beach extending all the way from Colva.

Majorda Beach

Majorda is a small stretch of a beach 5 km from Colva Beach. Popular among the tourists, you will that there are provision for beach umbrellas and reclining pool chairs for the tourists. Make use of them to relax on the beach under the sun to get a tan and watch the activities of other tourists.

Miramar Beach

Miramar is mere 3 km fro the capital of Goa, Panaji. The beach is just next to the estuary of the river Mandovi as it falls into the Arabian Sea. Earlier it was known as the "Gasper Dias Beach".

Palolem Beach

Palolem is the first beach of Goa that you may come across when coming from Karnataka. Palolem is another fishing beach in Goa. The tempting aroma of the fresh seafood being cooked on the local seaside food joints arouses the taste buds to try them out. You may also shop for the souvenirs and curios from the plenty of small shops selling souvenirs and bright colorful clothes.

Sinquerim Beach

13 km from Panaji, Sinquerim beach is the first tourist beach of north Goa. The Aguada Bay is divided into two parts known as the Carnzalem Bay and the other is the Sinquerim Bay.

Vagator Beach

Vagator Beach is very near to the Anjuna Beach. Beach looks captivating with abundant natural beauty of the cliff tops and dried grasslands. ruined farmhouses and pretty Portuguese bungalows form the attractive background of Vagator. The Vagator Beach with white sands is also popular as the "Little Vagator".

Varca Beach

Varca is very close to Benaulim. It is an isolated and clean beach. Only crowd you will find here is of the vegetation of small trees and shrubs. What will catch you sight are the rows of wooden fishing boats on the beach. They belong to the Christian fishing community who live in the nearby grassy dunes. Their houses are roofed with palm thatches.
